Cupcake Hair Clip

My daughter's 7th birthday is December 21st so I made her a cupcake hair clip for her cupcake decorating party. Since I cannot draw to save my life I used my Cricut and the Sweet Treats cartridge to cut out a little cupcake shape. I set the dial size to 1 3/4".  Cut two the same size.

I cut 5 pieces of brown 3/8" ribbon to wrap around the bottom of the cupcake. These were 1 1/2".

Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the completely covered front, but the 5th piece of brown went in the middle after the side pieces were added. Here is a picture of the back.

I used a baking spoon to measure out my pink pieces. Make sure you give yourself plenty of ribbon to overlap the pieces and to not totally burn yourself with the hot glue (speaking from experience here). Mine ended up being 1 3/4" long.

Here it is all wrapped. Take it off the spoon right away in case some of the glue leaked causing your ribbon to stick to the spoon. Yup, experience again.
I started by adding the pieces to the outside perimeter placing them in different directions. Then I filled in the middle, then the bottom. Don't be afraid to smoosh them together a bit to hide the paper underneath.
I felt it needed some dimension and I needed to hide some more of the paper so I cut three more pieces to place on top of the bottom layer. I ended up using 1 pink loops to cover this cupcake.  Add some bling. Line your alligator clip with a piece of 4 1/2" ribbon.
I also glued the second cupcake cutout over the back to hide my ribbon. It just made a cleaner cupcake.
 Finished! Hope she likes it.

Santa Buckle Hair Clip

Supplies:
15" piece red 7/8" grosgrain ribbon for center bow
(2) 8" pieces of white 3/8" grosgrain ribbon for main bow surrounds
Botton Spike
(1) 4" piece of red & white 7/8" polka dot ribbon
(2) 4" pieces of black 7/8" ribbon
(2) 4" pieces of red & white striped 7/8" ribbon

3" piece of white marabou to place on top of spike
alligator clip
black glitter ribbon for belt cut approx 3"
Silver glitter foam sheet to create buckle
4 1/2" 3/8" grosgrain ribbon to line alligator clip

Christmas Tree Hair Clip

Cut the following lengths from 3/8" grosgrain ribbon:
4 1/2"  brown for tree stump
4" red for mini bow
(3) 2"  green for 1st and 2nd tree rows
(3) 2"  white for 1st and 2nd tree rows
(7) 2 1/2" green for 3rd and 4th tree rows
(7) 2 1/2" white for 3rd and 4th tree rows
(5) 3" green for botton tree row
(5) 3" white for botton tree row
rhinestone for mini bow center
alligator clip
hot glue gun & lighter

Cut all ribbons to above lengths. If you have a rotary cutter and mat this goes so much quicker than cutting with scissors. Heat seal ends with a lighter.

Glue green and red tree limb ribbons together with a dab of hot glue on each end.

After all tree limbs are glued together begin creating each row of tree limbs by creating awareness ribbons.
Use 4 1/2" brown ribbon to line your alligator clip. Adhere bottom row of tree limbs to the lined clip.
Slightly overlap tree limbs on either side of center piece.

Assemble each row slightly overlapping each tree limb.

Add hot glue to the top center of the bottom row then add the 4th row to the clip.
Do the same for each row.

Make mini bow and glue rhinestone to the center. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to create this type of bow.
